Texas has some great golf courses and a number of these golf courses offer excellent Stay & Play packages. Our goal is to experience as many of these golf course Stay & Play packages as possible and provide you with review of the accommodations, food, amenities, and golf course. We know, this is a very tough job, but someone hasto do it! Occasionally, we’ll escape across the border to review some Stay & Play packages outside of Texas.

White Bluff Resort – Lake Whitney – White Bluff Resort is home to two excellent Bruce Lietzke designed courses, each of which has it’s own unique personality and characteristics. The New Course is the harder of the two courses with water on 16 holes, 30 huge bunkers, and smooth fast big greens. The Old Course is more scenic with dramatic elevation changes, ponds and creeks that come into play, strategically placed bunkers, and lots of deer. The Resort has excellent stay and play lodging, several amenities, and reasonable rates.

Links At Land’s End – Yantis – A hidden must play gem about 90 miles east of Dallas, Links At Land’s End is well worth the drive. The course meanders through the east Texas pines and along the shores of the premier bass lake in Texas, Lake Fork. This is a fun, very scenic, and challenging course. See you if can par the four holes in “Amen Corner!” The Lodge at Links At Land’s End has 12 rooms with two beds each plus two common areas and decks for enjoying morning coffee or a cold drink after a fun round. Vaaler Creek Golf Club – Blanco – Wow, what a hidden gem that is just waiting for you to discover. The accommodations are outstanding well appointed two and three bedroom condos at a very reasonable rate. And the golf course is a fun, challenging, and scenic hill country layout that you’ll want to play again and again. |
ColoVista Country Club – Bastrop – The Cottages at ColoVista Country Club are perfect for a golf getaway – one bedroom with a king or two doubles, a patio overlooking the 2nd hole, and reasonable rates. Lighthouse Country Club – Kingsland – a pleasant surprise with an excellent 18 hole golf course and a good stay and play offering. The course is always in great shape, the layout is fun and interesting, and the rates are very reasonable for such a quality course. Frio Country Resort – Frio River/Concan – There aren’t many places where you can play a fantastic 18 holes of golf, enjoy some good grub and excellent country music, choose from a wide variety of accommodations ranging from rustic cabins to 6 bedroom upscale homes with a pool, and swim or tube in the Frio River. |
The Lodges at The Bandit Golf Club – New Braunfels – The Bandit is one of our favorite public courses (see this list of The Best Public Courses in Texas) because each hole is different from all the others and each has its own personality and characteristics plus the course is scenic, in great condition, and reasonably priced! JW Marriott Resort & Spa – San Antonio – This is one impressive resort just north of San Antonio – over 1000 rooms, a $15 million six acre water park, multiple restaurants, spa, tennis courts, fitness center, and more. But best of all, as resort guests you can play two of the best courses in Texas – the TPC AT&T Oaks and TPC AT&T Canyons Courses. Both are fantastic – fun, very challenging, scenic, and excellent conditions.

La Cantera Resort & Spa – San Antonio – La Cantera Resort & Spa is home to two courses, both of which are in Texas Outside’s Best of Texas Golf Course list. They are also made Conde Nast Traveler Magazine “Top 100 Golf Resorts” list. La Cantera Resort & Spa has excellent accommodations, great dining choices, scenic panoramic views, a spa, two infinity pools, and outstanding service. South Shore Harbour Resort – League City – sitting on the shore of Clear Lake just south of Houston, South Shore Harbour Resort has reasonable lodging, a great pool, good food, and access to a 13,000 square foot fitness center and two very good private golf courses. And you’re close to lots of fun things to see and do nearby.

The Falls Golf Resort & Club – New Ulm – we understand that The Falls golf course closed in 2016. What a shame! You may want to add this one to your bucket list! A perfect 10 on the front nine, excellent Villas that sleep 4 to six, a good restaurant, tennis courts, swimming pool, and perfect service – all in a tranquil and scenic setting wtih wildlife, cascading waterfalls, a tall stately trees. |
Margaritavile Lake Resort Lake Conroe – Montgomery – located on the shoreline of Lake Conroe, Margaritaville Lake Resort is home to a Jeffery Blume 18 hole championship golf course that’s fun and challenging to play.
