I think we can agree that across the entire state, October is one of the best months of the year to be outside in Texas. This may be one of the reasons that there are so many festivals and outdoor events. Either way, this month has a lot to offer for upcoming events.

Wether you are enjoying the State Fair or maybe you’re planning on catching a Haunted Show In The Cave, you can find a strange or unique event to explore a new part of the state, or a niche you didn’t even know existed (like a mountain bike festival).

October Music Events In Texas

Texas and music go together like peanut butter and jelly. There is ALWAYS live music to enjoy all across our land, but here are some fun niche festivals to see this month.

Dripping Springs Songwriters Festival

Central Texas

This is a fantastic experience if you like singer-songwriters, where you will get a behind-the-music storytelling unlike any other live music festival. Popular and up-and-coming musicians share the spotlight, and share folk, Americana and authentic country music. Check out our past review of this festival.

Bloomin’ Bluegrass Festival

North Texas

Every year, this is the biggest bluegrass festival in Texas. Featuring the best, biggest and brightest modern bluegrass stars, it’s an outdoor 2-day festival put on by the Bluegrass Heritage Foundation that features a non-stop line-up as well as bluegrass jams.

Cotton Harvest Festival

North Texas

This is a fun small-town festival in Crandall, Texas celebrating the harvest season. You can expect the typical small town fest favorites: local food, music and entertainment – fun for the whole family.

October Food & Beverage Events In Texas

Texas knows how to celebrate food! There are some fantastic food and beverage themed events to get out and see this month, all over the state.

Steak Stein and Wine Festival

Central Texas

You had me at steak… and then stein, and then also wine! That’s the trinity of fun right there.

Palestine Hot Pepper Festival

East Texas

I love a super niche food festival, and you don’t want to miss the Hot Pepper Eating Contest.

Cisco Pie Fest

West Texas

Wait… there’s a Pie Fest? Yes, please.

Longview Wine Festival

East Texas

This area of East Texas has a blooming winery culture that has really taken root in the last 2 decades. Find out what it’s all about!

Seguin Pecan Fest

Central Texas

Pea-can, Puh-cahn, however you say it, if you’re a nut for nuts then check this one out.

El Paso Winefest

West Texas

Yes, another wine fest! This one is taking place right in the city, featuring the best food and wine that El Paso has to offer, over a hundred wines to try, and an unforgettable chef experience.
