Conveniently located five miles southwest of Fredericksburg on Highway 290, Bending Oaks Ranch RV Resort is a perfect place to camp for a weekend getaway to explore Fredericksburg, sample some excellent wine, listen to some superb country music, or chill out under the majestic oak trees.

Some of the reasons why Bending Oaks Ranch RV Resort is one of our favorite RV resorts include:

  • The staff and service are outstanding
  • They offer a wide variety of different types of sites
  • Their location is perfect – it’s close to lots of things to see and o
  • The park is clean and well maintained

It’s not surprising the Bending Oaks Ranch RV Resort was the “2021 Reader Choice Winner for Best RV Resort.”  In June 2021 what was Fredericksburg KOA for several years became Bending Oaks Ranch RV Resort – appropriately named after the amazing oak trees spread throughout the park.  The majestic oaks provide shade for campers, resting spots for a variety of species of birds including Whistling Ducks, and a shaded grazing field for the Longhorn steers.

We really appreciated the friendly staff and the fact that they called us before we left home and they were waiting for us at the gate entrance, led us to our site, and assisted with parking and hook-ups.  First class service!!!

Keep in mind that Bending Oaks Ranch RV Resort is a 21 and older RV park – no one under 21 is allowed in the park.  As such, Bending Oaks Ranch RV Resort is quiet and peaceful and it offers a relaxing escape from kids.

Campsite and Cabins

As I mentioned, one of the reasons why we rate Bending Oaks Ranch RV Resort as one of the best is because they offer a wide variety of different types of sites.  You can pick sites that are:

  • Well shaded with towering oaks for the hot summer sun or open sites for winter sun
  • Pull throughs or back-in sites
  • Long pull through RV sites up to 100’ long
  • Some sites with a patio, chairs, gas grill, picnic table, and a wide grassy area
  • Some sites with a separate extra space for a second vehicle or tow vehicle

The Bending Oaks Ranch RV Resort website has a map of the park to help you select a site or tell the staff what you’re looking for and they can pick the perfect site for you if it’s available.  Our site was E01 and we loved it – a shaded level pull through with a large grassy area, a stone patio with a picnic table, gas grill, two Adirondack chairs, plus a small glass table and chair.

The over 60 sites range from level to a small slope that will require minimal leveling blocks or jacks.  The hook ups for water, electric, and sewer are conveniently located toward the rear of the site.  Most of the sites are side by side.

In addition to campsites, Bending Oaks Ranch RV Resort has 8 cabins.  Six of the cabins are very rustic one room air conditioned cabins with a bunk and twin beds (sleeps 4) and the two improved cabins have twin beds (sleeps 2), a cable TV, toilet and sink, AC, private bathroom, and a mini fridge.  The cabins are small, rustic, and known as sleeping cabins.  All of the cabins are close to the restrooms and showers and have a porch with a swing, grill, and picnic table.  Linens are not provided.

If asked, the Snapps (the current owners)will tell you right away that the glory of their park belongs to these gigantic trees.

So, appropriately, the name Bending Oaks Ranch it is.  Throw in a few Longhorns and some fresh-egg-laying chickens, what else would you name it?

A Typical Texas Outsider Day

We’ll stay at Bending Oaks Ranch RV Resort while attending one of Thomas Michael Riley’s music festival in nearby Luckenbach – 5 miles down the road.  If Thomas is playing there is always some good music and a picker’s circle on Sundays is always outstanding.

We’ll enjoy a good meal at any one of the numerous restaurants and typically most of them have live music almost every night.

Two wineries are within walking distance from Bending Oaks Ranch RV Resort – Longhorn Cellars and Safari Winery.

Time permitting, we’ll hike to the top of Enchanted Rock or visit a couple wineries and sip some wine and listen to live music on the patio.

Nearby Fun Things To See and Do

Visit Fredericksburg and enjoy the good restaurants, shops and other attractions like the National Museum of the Pacific War.

Play 18 holes of golf on Lady Bird Johnson Golf Course or visit the nearby LBJ Ranch.

You can’t come to Fredericksburg without sampling some award winning wine at any of the near by 50 wineries.  Fredericksburg is second to Napa Valley in the number of good wineries.   Or sample some craft beer or whiskey at a local brewery or distillery.

Some of our favorites include in Fredericksburg: Hondo’s for music,  Bella Sera for Italian cuisine, Texas Heritage Vineyard and Grape Creek for wineries, Crossroads Saloon for steak and dancing, Altstadt Brewery, Barons Creekside for unique cabin rentals, and Altdorf Biergarten.
