Granbury is about an hour and a half southwest of Dallas and is a fun place to spend a weekend. Try to plan your weekend around any of the year-round events. You can make this a fun weekend by:
- Staying in a B&B, a historic house, or a hotel on Lake Granbury. Check out Inn on Lake Granbury, which is one of the best B&Bs in town.
- Dining on the square and attending Granbury Live for some live music and family entertainment. Alternatively, head to Granbury Opera House (for very entertaining musicals, plays, and melodramas in a historical theater). They offer them year-round.
- Attending an annual event like the General Granbury Birthday Party Festival. Watch a parade, go to a carnival, experience a cookoff, or attend an and arts and crafts fair. You might also enjoy some great country music at the Brazos River Music Fest (both of these events are the same weekend, usually in March). Go to the Granbury Convention & Visitors Bureau to find an event to attend the weekend you are there.
- Shopping the square and quaint shops. Have breakfast or lunch at one of the restaurants or the soda fountain on the square.
- Boating the Lake. If you don’t have a boat, then take a cruise aboard the Granbury Riverboat, or rent a boat or waverunner at Sam’s Dock.
- Golfing at Harbor Lakes, Sugar Tree, or any of the other nearby courses. Click here to find a golf course in the Dallas-Forth Worth Metroplex and read the reviews.
While Granbury’s population in 2020 was just over 10,000, don’t let that fool you. It’s is a great community with some fun things to do for a weekend. Give it a try!
