Wow, this par 35 3043 yard nine hole course has it all – unique and interesting holes, very good conditions, reasonable rates, and great greens. The layout is fair but challenging and it will test your course management and shot making skills with tight fairways, doglegs, dramatic elevation changes, ponds and creeks, sand and grass bunkers, contoured roller coaster fairways, risk reward opportunities, and guarded greens. It just doesn’t get much better than a fantastic golf course in one of our favorite Texas cities! Palmilla Beach Golf Club is a must play and well worth the drive to Port A. Golf Week ranked this true links-style course in the top 1% across the country and it also made Texas Outside’s list of the Best Public Courses in Texas. The course is scenic (with a couple holes along the Gulf of Mexico), in excellent condition, fun and challenging, and the service is first class. 3. Starr Hollow Golf Club – Tolar, TX

Starr Hollow is an exclusive private golf course located on a 3000 acre working ranch south west of Fort Worth. Built by the same person who built Colonial in Fort Worth, Star Hollow is serene, scenic, loaded with wildlife, and home to some great holes in excellent condition. 4. Stewart Peninsula Golf Course – Lewisville Lake, TX

Wow, what a fun and very demanding 9 hole course with views of Lake Lewisville from almost every hole. This nine hole course will throw a little bit of everything at you. From forced carries to downhill shots, dog legs, water, bunkers, tough approach shots, and more. Two sets of tee boxes and two pins on each green make each nine a little different. 5. Point Venture Golf Club – Point Venture
Texas Outside Rating: 8.3
A true hill country nine holes designed by 3 time Masters Champion Jimmy Demaret. What makes this course fun and challenging is the natural terrain. The elevation changes and dog legs both left and right, tight tree lined fairways, lots of deer, some views of Lake Travis, and some very small greens with slope and ridges bring out your best game. That said there are also six sets of tee boxes with yardages from 1170 to 3126 yards, no bunkers, and no water! Conditions are good and the rates are very reasonable. 6. Blue Lake Golf Club – Horseshoe Bay

Blue Lake Golf Club is well worth playing if you’re anywhere near Horseshoe Bay. The rates are reasonable and the views are great, including a good view of Lake LBJ. The holes are unique and demanding, and the conditions are good. 7. Weimar Golf Club – Weimar, TX

Weimar Golf Club opened in 1920 in a cow pasture with 3 golf holes with grass greens and a used motor oil surface. Over time it evolved into a nine hole course with good conditions, turtle back greens, tree-lined fairways, friendly service, and reasonable rates. 8. Harvey Penick Golf Campus – Austin, TX

Harvey Penick Golf Campus is an 112 acre golf complex. It has a nine hole par 30 course with three par 4s and six par 3s, a three hole 364 yard par 3 course, and practice facilities including a driving range, putting green, and bunker area. The nine course is no walk in the park! It has very good conditions, and is an excellent way to practice your short game. 9. Pedernales Cut-N-Putt Golf Course – Spicewood
Texas Outside Rating: 7.3
Pedernales Golf Course is owned by Willie Nelson and if you’re lucky you may see him playing a round. The layout is fantastic with lots of elevation changes, dog legs, water, bunkers, and trees to contend with.
