Lake Bob Sandlin is a relatively small lake, 9400 acres, and it's easy to cruise the whole lake in less than a couple hours. Most of the shoreline is treed and there are some sections of the lake that are developed with some huge beautiful homes.
The lake is primarily known for fishing – fishing for largemouth bass, catfish, and crappie is good and it's excellent for white bass. Several section of the lake, particularly at the west end have standing timber that you need to watch out for.
You should be able to find some water to board in one of the coves, there are a couple good options for camping including Lake Bob Sandlin State Park, and there are some options for lodging around the lake.
We have visited Lake Bob Sandlin once and the sole purpose was to check it out for this review, explore the lake, and see if there is anything fun to see and do nearby. We launched at their ramp and within a couple hours had cruised most of the lake - found the party cove, cruised by the Lake Bob Sandlin State Park, cruised by the party cove (which was empty because it was Wednesday), saw some beautiful big homes, and found a calm cove to swim, have a beer, and play some dominos. Then headed back to have some Mexican food in nearby Pittsburg.
The next day we went in search of fun things to see and do nearby - not much luck! We had a great breakfast at Earls, cruised through the State Park (read our review of Lake Bob Sandlin State Park), rode by some unique metal artwork that someone said we had to see, had a burger at Barefoot Bay Marina, and dinner at a very good Italian restaurant CiboVino, in nearby Winnsboro.
Not a real exciting couple of day!
Other Cool Things To Do:
As mentioned earlier, we couldn't find a lot to see and do on or nearby Lake Bob Sandlin. Pittsburg is 5 miles from Barefoot Bay Marina and it has a couple restaurants, a Heritage Museum, and a cute town square. It's known for it's hot links.
Mt Pleasant is about 10 miles from Barefoot and it doesn't have much more.
There are a couple of nearby 9 hole golf courses - use this golf map to find them.

We understand that you can rent a boat from one place that delivers the boat. Still checking it out
Restaurants, Bars & Music:
Earls, which is five miles off the lake, was building a stage and planning on having their first event that weekend. Barefoot Bay Marina is also building a deck at the marina and will have karaoke and live music occasionally.
Wake Boarding & Skiing:
There are a couple coves that based on how the wind is blowing will be ok for boarding, tubing, or skiing. Watch closely for stumps.
