The holidays have officially started, and we have some great holiday events on deck for the long weekend. From turkey day parades to Christmas kickoffs, here are our picks for the best holiday events this Thanksgiving week in Texas.
Houston H-E-B Thanksgiving Day Parade
November 24, 2022, 9:00 am-11:00 am
This is the big daddy – one of the oldest Thanksgiving parades in the country, and the largest in Texas by a mile. Come on out for the spectacle of hundreds of thousands of spectators spanning 20 city blocks in downtown Houston on Thursday morning.
Sun Bowl Parade
November 24, 2022, 10:00 am-12:00 pm
Yes, bowl season is just around the corner! The Sun Bowl game is one of the oldest in the country (second only to the Rose Bowl), but you might already be getting out your calendar – the game isn’t until the week of New Years. But the parade is on turkey day, so check out this El Paso classic down Montana Avenue. The theme this year is “Mardi Gras, El Paso Style”, so you’re sure to see some craziness!
Ford Holiday River Parade and River Lighting Ceremony
November 25, 2022, 6:00 pm-9:00 pm
This San Antonio tradition can’t be missed, as 4 miles of the Riverwalk turn into an evening parade and lighting ceremony. Kick off the holiday season in true Texas fashion.
A McKinney Christmas
November 25, 2022-November 27, 2022
For one of the best small-town holiday events in North Texas, visit the downtown McKinney square. It’s always a great place to shop or eat, but this weekend it transforms into this annual “small town feel, big holiday spirit” event.
Christmas in Comfort
November 26, 2022
Another small-town Christmas event in the Texas Hill Country, if you’re looking to get away from the city and enjoy a truly local event then take a day trip or weekend getaway to Comfort, Texas.
