Toledo Bend is huge with over 181,600 acres and 1200 miles of shoreline. One proud Toledo Bend resident stated to me "Toledo Bend Lake would be the largest lake in Texas if we didn't have to share it with Louisiana!" The maximum depth is 110 feet, the shore line is rolling hills with trees, sheer bluffs, and some residential development.
There are plenty of private and public facilities available for swimming, boating, picnicking, fishing, camping, hunting and sightseeing. The lake is very popular for fishing (excellent for largemouth bass) and there are lots of clubs and business hosting fishing tournaments most of the year.
Toledo Bend is best known as a fishing lake (excellent for largemouth bass) and it's not one of the best lakes for recreational boating (skiing, cruising, boarding) because of the density of stumps. In fact, a majority of the lake has boating lanes marked by red and green poles - keep the red posts on your right to head north.
