Review of Pecan Park Riverside RV Park in San Marcos
If you plan to visit San Marcos or just looking for a relaxing place to camp, then you should consider Pecan Park Riverside RV Park. The Park is 2.5 miles from San Marcos and IH 35 and is nestled in the pecan trees on 24 acres with easy access to the San Marcos River. This is a quiet and peaceful campground that offers a lot of amenities.
This park is owned by the Jim and his son David Rowley two of the nicest and friendliest people you can ever expect to meet and they are dedicated to making sure that your visit at Pecan Park is enjoyable and memorable. Their park is clean and well maintained, the roads are paved, the sites are level, and huge mature pecan trees provide plenty of shade.

We love the San Marcos river and all it has to offer, which means we'll spend most of the day tubing, swimming, and enjoying the river. Pecan Park offers Tube Rentals and you can float the San Marcos River from up the river to the campground or leave from Pecan Park and float downriver. There are plenty of places to rent tubes, canoes, or kayaks. For a list of nearby tube rentals go the the Tubing Section of Texas Outside or check out this site for info on the San Marcos river. Pecan Park has easy access to the river for swimming or fishing.
We are also big fans of disc golf and we love ladder golf, both of which are available at Pecan Park. We own two sets of ladder golf which travel with us and get used on every trip and provide hours of fun.
It's hard for the shoppers to pass up the opportunity to visit the 3rd Best Place to Shop in the world - Prime Outlets - as seen on ABC's "The View". While some of the party are shoping, you can take advantage of plenty of great golf courses within 30 miles. You can easily find them using the Texas Outside Golf Locator Map for either San Marcos or Central Texas. One of our favorites is The Bandit.
We will usually head over to the San Marcos Square for restaurants and nightlife at some fun and lively spots.
Pecan Park is an excellent location for exploring central Texas. Head north 30 miles to enjoy Austin. Click here to find things to see and do in Austin or read some of the Thank God For Weekends articles about some of Texas Outside's trips to Austin and nearby locations.
You can have some fun in San Marcos at a brewery, a good restaurant, or a special event. New Braunfels also has lots to see and do including Schlitterbahn, Natural Bridge Caverns, Texas Ski Ranch, and more; and if you haven't visited San Antonio you only have to drive 30 minutes to get to one of the most popular tourist cities in Texas. If you like country music, then you can't say you've experienced Texas until you go to Gruene and enjoy the food at Grist Mill or Gruene River Grill and music at the oldest dance hall in Texas, Gruene Hall which is a Texas Outside Favorite. A couple of blocks from Gruene Hall is the Guadalupe River and a couple of places to rent tubes for floating the Guadalupe. Go to Texas Outside's Discover Texas to find out more about each of the cities and what else there is to do nearby. You should be able to find something for everyone to enjoy when you stay at Pecan Park.
