Glen Garden Country Club in Fort Worth is closing its doors after more than a century and the property will become the home of a whiskey distillery.
The front nine of Glen Garden Country Club is flat and lacks character with side by side fairways (which means watch out for balls from the other fairways – sometimes I think the players purposely played the wrong fairway in hopes of cutting off a few yards), no dog legs, and no water or other trouble, what kind of fun is that? Plus the traps don't seem to want to jump out and catch your ball. You should be able to score well on this nine. Glen Garden Country Club's back nine isn't a whole lot better. It includes some rolling hills, two pretty holes, some elevation changes, and one hole with water. However, it is still an easy nine and not a whole lot of fun. All the greens on both sides are exactly the same (small, round, and have a gentle slope toward the fairway with no undulations — not much of a challenge). The Glen Garden is inexpensive with a coupon.
