Profile
Timberview Golf Club is what we would classify as a good rural country golf course, which in this case means when you play here you'll find:
- Texas friendly and laid back service
- a traditional layout
- fair conditions
- few amenities
- low prices
- good pace of play
- a family and beginner friendly track
What makes Timberview fun to play is that it has a little bit of everything to test your game, but it's fair and manageable for the beginners and provides an opportunity to score well for the better players. You'll find some open fairways where you can let it rip, some forced carries, a few dog legs, some tight approaches, a couple table top greens, risk reward opportunities, and some water hazards. For example, the par 4 #4 is a dog left that requires an accurate drive to position you for the tight approach (trees, water, small ravine) to the green. Most of the holes are what you see is what you get, fairly straight and flat, and if you pick the right set of tee boxes you can have a good relaxing round at a very good value.
The front nine is longer but not quite as enjoyable as the back which we think is more scenic, a little more challenging, and has some fun holes. #17 is a fun 422 yard par 5 – you need a good drive off the tee box to make the sharp dog right and position you for the second shot which is either a layup or a long shot to carry the large pond protecting the slightly downhill green. Long and accurate hitters have a great risk reward opportunity off the tee box – are you willing to risk trying to carry the trees and field to cut off a lot of the yardage and have an opportunity for an eagle?
Conditions are rural country – not the best but very playable. The greens are in about average condition, mostly very small, and have minor slope and undulation. In fact, hitting and sticking on the greens is a major challenge. Half of the fairways are side by side, there are lots of trees, a few small berms, fair conditions, and most are forgiving off the box.
Bottom line, you won't find any better rates, a more laid back atmosphere, or a more friendy and helpful staff dedicated to making your round fun. This is an very good track for families as well as beginners.

Service is outstanding - Texas friendly and courteous. There is a putting green but no range. Food is limited to dogs and snacks but there is a full bar and game room with a TV and pool table for after your round. The carts were new in 2010.
