Avid Golfer (11-03) rated Pecan Valley #4 in "Hidden Gems" of the Best Public Courses. This is a typical municipal course – low prices, not a lot of variety, and aging facilities. The front nine is not real exciting and most of the holes are similar – straight, tree lined, and bunkers. You won't encounter any real trouble on the front nine. The back nine is much nicer with some doglegs, water and ravines to cross, and in general it is much prettier and a little harder. The course was in ok condition for March and the greens were in good shape. The greens are large but hard to read due to a lot of undulation – study your putts carefully. Pecan Valley was named #23 in the Dallas Morning News 2006 Top 25 Economy Courses ($44 and below).
