Granbury Country Club Golf Course is a nine hole course located just a few miles from downtown Granbury. There are 4 sets of tee boxes, which means you plan the first round from one set and the second nine from a different set of tee boxes. This shortens or lengthens each hole somewhat, but doesn’t change the character of the hole, primarily because most of the tee boxes are close to each other.
This course is a what you see is what you get type course, where you can see the flag from each tee box and the majority of the holes are straight in front of the tee box. The majority of the terrain is flat with a couple holes having some up and down slope. Most of the fairways are lined with a few trees. Watch out for the one sand trap, other than a creek that crosses the fairway, you won’t find the course challenging. The fairways were in below average condition – a couple steps above prairie golf.
The greens are very small and all of them have some slope and minor undulation. They are also turtle top and its hard to get to get your ball to hold, which means it will roll off the green and back onto the fairway. They seemed slow, a little difficult to read, and in fair condition.
The clubhouse is very dated and doesn’t look like it has been updated since it was built in the 70’s. The clubhouse has snack and microwave food only and little to no equipment or gear. The good news is the course is an easy walk and very inexpensive for 9 or 18 holes.
