Cape Royal meanders up and down the piney woods of East Texas with a couple holes playing along Lake Livingston. This par 70 course is short at 6008 and if you can manage the ups and downs, dog legs, and blind shots, you should be able to score well. All the fairways are all tree lined (miss them and you’ve most likely lost your ball), fairly tight, and rolling and contoured. No two holes are alike, making this a fun and challenging course.
The greens are average size, in pretty good condition, fast, and have plenty of slope. At times, we watched the ball roll way past the cup, back down the green to the fairway, or in one case went past the cup and rolled back in! The fairways need some work and were pretty dry and rough in spots. Regardless, Cape Royal is a must play if you’re in the Lake Livingston area.
