Profile
Stow-A-Way Park is located on the North East end of Lake Conroe (about 2 miles from the 1097 bridge) and the marina is in a small protected cove with easy access to the main part of Lake Conroe. The Park is adjacent to the Sam Houston National Forest and on a section of the lake that is more isolated, less developed, and not as crowded as other parts of Lake Conroe. Which also means you have easy access to good wake boarding, scenic tree lined shoreline, and excellent fishing. Shopping, restaurants, and other services are available in Conroe which is about 15 minutes south.
Stow-A-Way Marina & RV Park was built in 1988 and by todays standards is a little dated but clean, convenient, and well managed. The RV Park has 75 full hook-up sites, the streets are paved, and the entrance is gated. The Park is well shaded with lots of tall trees.
The Marina rents slips and has overnight guest slips, on the water gas, a fishing bank, and a three lane boat ramp. Stow-A-Way Marina & RV Park is home to several large and very popular fishing tournaments and hosts weekly bass fishing tournaments. This is a great place to stay if you’re participating in one of the tournaments.

Stow-A-Way Marina & RV Park is a great place to stay if you want to camp, explore the north end of Lake Conroe, and leave the boat in the water overnight. The shoreline at this end of Lake Conroe is not as developed and is more natural thanks to Sam Houston National Forest and you're likely to spot some bald eagles and other wildlife.
We also enjoy cruising south down the lake and past the beautiful homes in Bentwater and anchor in a cove to swim and watch the golfers loose their golf balls in the lake - the grandkids love to go golf ball fishing and have given me lots of good Pro V1s! Further south past Bentwater at the end of the lake are some great restaurants and fun bars (like Papas on the Lake), boat rentals, and party coves.
Conroe is also home to lots of great golf courses and when we visit the lake we typically plan on at least 18 holes of golf at one of the courses.
Lake Conroe is one of our favorite lakes because it has a little bit of everything - good fishing, excellent scenery from huge beautiful homes to natural shoreline, great boat up to restaurants, fun nightlife on the water, party coves, and a few coves suitable for boarding. Read our review of Lake Conroe to learn more about the lake and take a look at our map of Lake Conroe to find things to see and do on the lake.
If you want to go fishing, there is a guide that works out of Stow-A-Way but if he is booked there are several other Lake Conroe fishing guides that can help you catch a great dinner.
Stow-A-Way has a Jon boat and kayaks for rent if you want to get out on the water. If you're looking for a ski boat or waverunner, then here is a link to some Lake Conroe Boat Rentals.
As mentioned earlier, the Conroe area is home to some great golf courses, so bring you sticks and use this Conroe Golf Map to quickly find a course and read our review. A couple of our favorites are Wedgewood and Links at West Fork.
Conroe is home to lots of restaurants and shopping, but we haven't found much else to do outside of the lake and golfing.
