Review of River Ranch RV Resort in New Braunfels
Located in the middle of New Braunfels and on the I-35 frontage road, River Ranch RV Resort is a perfect place to stay for awhile to enjoy the Guadalupe River and all that New Braunfels and nearby San Antonio, Gruene, and San Marcos have to offer. The Park has easy access to I-35 and is very close to shopping, movies, restaurants, and more. You can walk to some good restaurants or a movie and Wal-Mart is within 5 minutes.
River Ranch RV Resort is small with only 52 sites (full hook-up and a mixture of back-in and pull through), six of which are right on the bank of the Guadalupe River. The roads and sites are paved and the Park is very clean and very well maintained.
Pets are welcome but no more than 3 per site. No tents allowed and this is not a party RV park which is what most Guadalupe River tubers are looking for. The guests that stay here are typically older and here for a quiet and peaceful stay with family or friends.
RVs older than 10 years old need to call for approval to stay; golf carts, bicycles, skateboards, roller-skates, scooters or ATV's are not allowed; and only one vehicle is allowed per site, except for the Premium Sites which can have two vehicles.
The staff is very friendly and excellent at helping you get parked in your site!

Our first visit here was when we were babysitting our three Austin grandkids on a trip to have some fun in New Braunfels and San Antonio. The grandkids had a blast fishing with home made poles, skipping rocks, chasing the ducks, swimming, and playing in the river. The grassy area in back of our site was perfect for some games and just sitting in our chairs watching the kids enjoy themselves.
We also had a fun afternoon tubing the Comal River and running the chute! We rented tubes from Texas Tubes. After tubing, we stopped at Pour Haus for a cold drink, a game of gigantic Jenja blocks, bean bag toss, and bocce ball - a fun time. Then back to the campsite for a dip in the river and a quick game of soccer.
The next day we had a great time at Texas Ski Ranch watching the grandkids enjoy all that they have to offer - cable wakeboarding, trampoline jump, restaurant, and more.
The food at Golden Chinese Buffet was good and it is just two minutes up the road.
New Braunfels is home to lots of tubing options - from tubing the shortest river in Texas (Comal River) with the famous chute to floating the best party tubing river in Texas (the Guadalupe River). Or you can enjoy the Guadalupe, San Marcos, or Comal river on a kayak, raft, or canoe. And the stretch of the Guadalupe River at River Ranch RV Resort has a boat ramp next door and the river is deep enough for boats or waverunners and it's a no-wake zone along the stretch in front of the RV Resort. Check out the Tubing Page of Texas Outside to find some options for tubing.
If you like golf, you got several choices near by including The Bandit and Landa Park. Use this New Braunfels golf map to find some nearby courses and to read our reviews of the courses. And San Antonio is just down the road and it's home to some of the best courses in Texas - check Texas Outside's list of the Best San Antonio Golf Courses.
New Braunfels is loaded with lots of fun things to see and do including shopping and good restaurants; the infamous Schlitterbaun; Landa Park; and fun nightlife. Gruene is home to the oldest dance hall in Texas and they always have top-notch bands and entertainment.
San Marcos and San Antonio are close by and they also offer lots to see and do. If you like zip lines, safari parks, or caverns then head to Natural Bridges. Read about our fun day at Natural Bridges Wildlife Park. Canyon Lake is one of the clearest and prettiest in Texas and its close by.
Bottom line: River Ranch RV Resort is a perfect place to spend some time enjoying a lot of outdoor activities and fun things to see and do and it's close to all of them.
