Review and Rating of Loyd Park in Grand Prairie
Loyd Park which sits on 790 acres in Grand Prairie is a peaceful and beautiful park on the shores of the 7,000 acre Joe Pool Lake. This park is one of our favorites because it offers a wide variety of campsites from great sites on the lake to sites hidden under the trees, lake front cabins, and tons of amenitieske plus cabins and lots of amenities. We also like the fact that you can reserve sites by number to make sure you get one that suites your needs. You can pick from lake front to treed, 30 or 50 AMP, or sites with sewer hookups.
There are fully equipped cabins within 100 yards of the lake and swimming beach that are perfect for a weekend getaway. The one and two bedroom cabins are fully furnished and sleep 4 to 6 people.
The new 18-room Loyd Park Lodge and the historic Loyd Home on Joe Pool Lake opened in 2015 and it's great for family reunions, corporate events, or other group activities.
Loyd Park offers a wide variety of activities for campers including fishing, swimming, kayaking, hiking, biking, boating, and softball. There are over 100 picnic sites that are close to the lake.
All of the roads are paved and the Park is very well maintained and clean. The park is easy to access and close to lots of fun things to see and do. There is a 14 stay limit.
The other thing we love about Loyd Park is that all of the work campers we met were friendly, outgoing, and helpful. And they and the full time staff do an excellent job of keeping the park clean and very well maintained.
Thanks to all of this and more, Loyd Park made our list of the Best Parks in Texas.

A typical day at Loyd Park for us includes a great outdoor breakfast and then heading out in the boat to enjoy the lake for skiing, anchoring and swimming, or heading over to Lynn Creek Marina and the Oasis floating restaurant for food, drinks, and live music. We also enjoy riding bikes in and around the campground and on the trails which are flat and easy. Or renting a kayak and paddling up the scenic 5 mile paddling trail.
On other stays at Loyd Park we have visited the Ft Worth Zoo, kayaked on the Trinity River, attended May Fest, and played golf at a lot of the local courses.
