Profile
Fernbrook Park is a family owned and operated RV park that opened for camping in mid 2010. As such it is modern and clean with good amenities, big rig friendly, and has long paved pull through sites. The facilities and amenities sit on 10 of the 35 acres that are a part of Fernbrook RV Park.
The park is located just a few miles southwest of downtown Longview on a scenic country road with very easy access to Interstate 20 to take you to Tyler, Longview, Marshall, Shreveport, Kilgore, or other places to explore. The park has a peaceful and quiet country look and feel with white picket fences, tall Texas pines, and open pasture.
The roads through the park are paved and wide and big rigs can easily maneuver into and out of some long pull through sites or into any of the back-in sites.
The staff is friendly and courteous and very knowledgeable about the local area with ideas on what to see and do, where to eat, golf courses, and more.

Fernbrook RV Park is a fantastic place to stay if you want some peace and quiet for a relaxing getaway or want to explore the local area. The freeway, Interstate 20, is less than 5 minutes away and takes you to several interesting cities and lots to see and do.
We stayed are Fernbrook when we were playing the Azalea Golf Trail and the golf courses in Gladewater, Longview, and Waskom. Read our reviews of the trail and each of the courses on Texas Golf Trail. Since it was over 100 each day, after golf we didn't want to do much except cool off in the pool. The pool helped and we did find time to try some good restaurants including the nearby T-Blanco's Mexican Cafe.
A couple people recommended that we have to go to the East Texas Oil Museum in Kilgore. So we stopped on our way home and enjoyed the museum a lot - interesting exhibits, well done, and informative.
Longview and the nearby area is home to some great golf courses if you like to golf. Check out our Longview golf map to find some courses and read our reviews of courses we have played and rated.
During our visit, we didn't have much time to do anything but play golf, cool off in the pool, and eat some food, so we can't make many recommendations on what else to see and do in Longview. Check out our Longview Map to find some stuff to see and do or ask the friendly staff at Fernbrook RV Park for some recommendations.
We never would have thought this would happen in Longview, but during our visit we must have been on a anti-American food kick because we enjoyed a good soup and vermicelli dish at Vietnamese Pho, some outstanding Thai food at Lil Thai House, excellent pasta dishes at Carino's Italian restaurant, a great chili relleno at T-Blanco's Mexican Cafe, and a huge tasty burger at The Challenge at Gladewater golf course grill. I'm still working out trying to lose the calories.
The East Texas Oil Museum in Kilgore was highly recommended so we stopped by and enjoyed it for an hour or so. If you like lakes, nearby Caddo Lake is unbelievable and Lake of the Pines is a great lake with fishing guides, boat rentals, and more.
Tyler, Marshall, and Jefferson are all fun cities to explore. The Zoo in Tyler is outstanding.
If you're considering heading to the Longview area, you might consider planning your trip around the Longview Balloon Race which is the second largest balloon festival in the United States. Fernbrook RV Park is very close to where the event takes place but make reservations at Fernbrook well in advance.
