Profile
Castaways RV Park & Cabins is a membership only RV park with cabins and condominium rooms available to the public. The Park sits on the north east side of Lake Conroe on 41 acres with over 2000 feet of shoreline on a large well protected cove. The terrain is flat to gently rolling and the majority of the RV sites are under trees and well shaded. The Park is clean but is dated and a number of the amenities are in need of some repair – for example the tennis court nets are full of holes and the court needs to be resurfaced.
When we stayed in 2009, the brand new condos and the cabins were open to the public. Non Castaway members could stay in the park contingent upon taking a guided tour of Castaways facilities and listening to the membership options.
There are few other RV parks in Texas that have as many amenities as Castaways. The staff is friendly, helpful, and attentive.

We enjoyed 3 days over Memorial Day at Castaways and were busy from the time we got up to well after midnight. After a hearty breakfast and before it got to hot, we hit the tennis courts from some competitive doubles and singles, then over to the pool to cool off. While some of us swam, we started the ping pong tournament! And over the rest of the weekend we had a volleyball match and a round of horseshoes.
The afternoons were spent on the lake enjoying:
- a boat ride to enjoy a very good lunch (and back again for dinner plus drinks, music, and a fantastic sunset at Grumpy Larry's Lakehouse (936 856-7936)
- cruising, swimming, tubing, and skiing in some of the coves around Lake Conroe - in a cove on the edge of one of the Bentwater golf holes we went diving for golf balls to refill our bags with all we had lost on previous outings
- dinner, dancing, drinking, and volleyball on the water at Wolfies and Pappas
- 18 holes of fantastic golf (the course was outstanding, my score sucked!) at Wedgewood Golf Course
