The RV Park at Barefoot Bay Marina is located on a small protected cove of Lake Bob Sandlin about 4 miles from Pittsburg. The RV Park is across the street from the Barefoot Bay Marina which has a store, cabins, clubhouse, marina, nature trail, gas, and more. In addition to cabins, there are 79 full hook-up RV sites.
Barefoot Bay Marina changed hands in late 2011 and the new owners have made significant improvements and are committed to making more additions and changes to their Resort.
The staff is outgoing and friendly and the Resort is clean and well maintained. The RV Resort is family and dog friendly. Barefoot Bay Marina and RV Resort is well deserving of being named “Best RV Park in Upper East Texas” by County Line Magazine.

During our first visit to Barefoot Bay Marina & RV Resort we stayed in one of the cabins and spent a day on Lake Bob Sandlin - cruised by the State Park, past some huge beautiful homes, and checked out the party cove which was empty because it was Wednesday. We found a small protected cove, dropped an anchor, went swimming, and played some dominos.
The Clubhouse wasn't open yet or we would have spent some time playing pool. Pittsburg is nearby and we went into town that evening for some pretty good Mexican food and a great margarita at Papa Nachos.
The next morning we had an excellent breakfast at Earls, checked out Lake Bob Sandlin State Park, and cruised by some interesting metal sculptures on a scenic country back road. And that night we drove 25 minutes to Winnsboro for some good Italian food at CiboVino.
On our most recent visit just before Christmas, we enjoyed our stay in the lake house and had an excellent dinner and some very good wine at Los Pinos Ranch Vineyards. Several people recommended that we have breakfast at the historic Pittsburg Hot Links - so we did and it was pretty good.
We had a tee time at Princedale Country Club Golf Course that morning but unfortunately it was cold and drizzling, so we decided to skip golf.
We ask several people what there is to do nearby and the typical answers were:
- visit the Pittsburg town square, the Prayer Tower, the Depo Museum, or the Heritage Museum
- sample some wine and good food at Los Pinos Ranch Vineyards
- try some Pittsburg hot links which Pittsburg is famous for
- enjoy the lake - rent a boat if you don't have one or go fishing with one of the local fishing guides
- play some golf - here is a golf map to help you find a course
- visit Mt Pleasant
- check out Cypress Springs Lake with adjoins Lake Bob Sandlin
- spend some time at Lake Bob Sandlin State Park or Daingerfield State Park
Or just hang out at Barefoot Bay Marina and enjoy the lake, the Clubhouse, or a good game of volleyball or pool. Visit Barefoot Bay Marina's website to check out their list of fun things to do. Here is a link to our review of Lake Bob Sandlin.
