Review and Rating of River Bend RV Resort & Golf Club in Brownsville, Texas
River Bend RV Resort & Golf Club was founded in 1983 and named after the huge bend in the Rio Grande River that borders a portion of the Resort and golf Course. This well maintained and manicured Resort is home to an 18 hole championship golf course (read our review of River Bend Golf Club), RV rental lots, town homes (park models) for rent, and residential property. The Resort is covered with a variety of palm trees swaying in the breeze, several varieties of trees, and lots of lush landscaping.
All of the roads through River Bend are paved and wide enough for big rigs to maneauver into any of the concrete parking pads. River Bend RV Resort has easy access to restaurants, shoping, and nighlife and the freeway through the valley is about 5 minutes away.
The property is guarded during the day and gated with card entry during the night. The common mode of transportation is golf carts, walking, or biking.
The people that we met on property were friendly and outdoing.

During our recent visit to River Bend RV Resort we:
- enjoyed a couple local restaurants
- played golf at River Bend Golf Course and Brownsville Golf Center
- enjoyed an afternoon at the zoo - read our article on Gladys Porter Zoo
- zipped down to South Padre Island for a zip at South Padre Island Adventures, a great lunch, and some live music and drinks at one of the many beach bars
Brownsville and River Bend RV Resort are at the south east end of the Rio Grande Valley which means you're only 30 minutes away from Port Isabel and South Padre Island and all that they have to offer - beaches, fishing, dolphin or eco tours, golf, horseback riding on the beach, priate ship sail, parasailing, lots of excellent restaurants and beach bars with live music. Check our our South Padre Island Page to find some fun things to see and do.
The Rio Grande Valley aslo has lots to do from annual events to zoos and museums, attractions, restaurants, and nightlife, and good golf courses. Here is our Rio Grande Valley Page and our reviews of some great Rio Grande Valley Golf Courses. If you're up to it, cross the border into Mexico for great food and margaritas and some shopping bargains.
