Review and Rating of San Jacinto Riverfront RV Resort in Highlands, TX
Wow, what a fantastic RV Resort overlooking the San Jacinto River. San Jacinto Riverfront RV Resort claims that it is a five-star gated community that's all about "afforable luxury" and that guests have described them as the "newest, largest, friendliest, cleanest, most beautiful, and most luxurious RV resort in the area."
Some of why we believe those claims are true include:
- the Resort is very clean and well maintained and manicured
- all the roads and parking pads are concrete
- there are a variety of different types of sites and pricing structures
- the entrance to the park is gated
- the cabins are unique, upscale, and custom built
- there are lots of outstanding amenities and plenty to see and do nearby
It's not surprising that Good Sam rated San Jacinto Riverfront RV Resort as one of the few 10/10/10 parks in Texas and the Resort also made Texas Outside's List of the Best RV Parks in Texas.
The Resort is over 33 acres with 300 full hook-up RV sites, 19 cabins, and over 500 feet of frontage on the San Jacinto River. The Resort is quiet and peaceful (with stunning sunsets over the River) and is about 3 miles from Interstate 10 giving you easy access to the Resort and lots of other fun things to see and do. Downtown Houston is only 20 miles from the Resort.
The staff is courteous and friendly and they seem to strive to make sure that they remain one of the best RV parks you've visited and that you had a very enjoyable stay.

We stayed at San Jacinto Riverside RV Resort for two days on our way to New Orleans and really enjoyed our stay. We were in site 233 which is a deluxe river view site on the edge of the fifth row of sites and it had a 45’ long parking pad for the RV and one for the car, shrubs on one side and grass on the other, and a hot tub plus a fantastic view of the River and sunsets! Loved it.
We got in late but not too late for a refreshing dip in the infinity pool which was less than 100 yards from our site. The view of the River from the infinity pool was breathtaking as the sun was setting. After that we were ready for some Mexican food and a couple Margaritas at a pretty good restaurant just a mile down the road.
The next morning we teed off at Eagle Pointe Golf Club about 15 minutes from the Resort. Eagle Pointe is a fantastic layout with excellent conditions, reasonable rates, and some outstanding holes. Read our review of Eagle Pointe to learn more.
After golf we took a very short ferry boat ride across a busy shipping channel to Monument Restaurant for some excellent seafood and a great view of the shipping channel. Less than a mile down the road is the San Jacinto Monument and the San Jacinto Battleship, both of which were fun to tour.
After the tour and 18 holes of golf we were ready for a cold drink and relaxing soak in the our hot tub watching the sun set over the River – it just doesn’t get much better that all that! We hated to leave the next day.
Some nearby fun things to see and do include:
- The ferry, Monument restaurant, San Jacinto Monument, and Battleship or San Jacinto Battlefield State Historic Park are just 5 minutes down the road from the Resort and all three are fun for the entire family

- Houston and all that it has to offer (museums, restaurants, shopping, zoo, aquarium, golf, biking and running trails, lively nightlife, etc.) is only 20 minutes away – here is a link to our interactive Houston map to find things to do and our Top 10 Favorite Things To Do in Houston
If you want to venture a little further you’ve got NASA, Kemah, and Galveston and all that they have to offer.
