Review of Alamo/San Antonio KOA
If you're planning on camping near San Antonio, then you should consider Alamo/San Antonio KOA. It's conveniently located Highways 10, 410, and 35 giving you quick access to everything that San Antonio has to offer. And city buses take you to the center of San Antonio's history and culture, including the River Walk
But better yet, it's a great KOA with tent sites as well as full hook-up RV sites, 1 and 2 bedroom cabins, outstanding amenities, and a very friendly and outgoing staff.
The park has paved roads throughout the campground that are wide enough for the big rigs to easily maneuver. The vast majority of the sites are shaded providing protection from the hot Texas sun.
Alamo San Antonio KOA is very well maintained, the restrooms are clean, and the entrance to the park is gated and secure.
We must admit, we are a little biased toward KOAs – to us they are similar to McDonalds with high quality standards, reasonable prices, and you know what to expect and that's what you'll get. And Alamo San Antonio KOA lives up to that standard and exceeded our expectations and we loved the location. They were also the proud recipients of the 2013 KOA Presidents and Founders Award.

We've stayed at the Alamo/San Antonio KOA a couple times - one when we were in town to collect some intormation on what there is to see and do in San Antonio and the most recent visit in 2013 when were were in San Antonio to play and review the golf courses on the Alamo Golf Trail.
We can't come to San Antonio without a visit to the Riverwalk for some drinks, music, and fun, particularily at Howl at the Moon, a dueling piano bar. We've also enjoyed some of the attractions like Sea World, the Alamo, Fiesta Texas, and more. We also like to park the car somewhere downtown and explore the city by bike and now San Antonio has lots of new bike trails.
San Antonio is also home to some our Favorite Texas Golf Courses and we can't stop in San Antonio without playing some of the them. La Cantera Resort has two of our favorites and the JW Marriott is home to two excellent TPC courses.
The Park's website does a good job of highlighting some of the attractions - here is a link to that page of local attractions to help you decide what else to see and do during your trip. Splash Town is just around the corner as is the AT&T Center which is home to every thing from rodeos to RV shows to a Justin Bieber concert. Across the street from the Park, the city bus will take you everywhere from Sea World to the Riverwalk for a very small fee.
Here's our list of Ten Fun Things To Do In San Antonio and our interactive map of San Antonio to help you find something to do.
If you like to golf, this San Antonio golf map will help you find a course and provide a link to our review of the course if we have played and rated it.
