Profile
Located along the banks of the San Saba River and under some stately pecan and oak trees about two miles from downtown San Saba is a small RV park that is perfect for a getaway or a camp and play golf weekend.
San Saba River RV Park is owned and operated by the City of San Saba and opened in 2008. Some of the sites are on a bank overlooking the small San Saba River, others are nestled under tall pecans and oaks, and a few are open.
The Park is located next to the fun and scenic San Saba River Golf Course and they offer a reasonable Golf Stay & Play Package.
The main road through the park and campsite is not paved but if firm and wide enough for big rigs to easily maneuver into any of the sites.
San Saba River RV Park is a work in progress and improvements and additions are continuously being made. For example, a new clubhouse was recently built and four new sites were added to the Park and the City is still making improvements as dollars become available.

We had heard a couple good comments about the San Saba River Golf Course, so we decided to check it out and spend the night in the RV park on our way to a music festival in Llano.
We loved the RV park - quiet, peaceful, scenic, and well maintained - as well as the golf course. San Saba River Golf Course is a fun track that is challenging but fair, with reasonable rates, an excellent pace of play, and some fun holes. Read our review of San Saba River Golf Course to learn more.
Unfortunately we didn't have time to explore San Saba before heading out of town. We hope to return in the near future.
San Saba River RV Park is located about two miles from the Pecan Capital of The World, which offers a wide variety of delicious pecan treats at a variety of different stores close to downtown. The city has three public parks, the golf course, an historic downtown shopping district, and excellent fishing and hunting in the countryside surrounding it.
Mill Pond Park is a lovely park with a spring-fed lake and a man-made swimming pool. A waterfall cascades over rocks landscaped with ferns, moss, canna and caladium. The park is also home to baseball fields, tennis courts, a playground, a beach volleyball court, basketball courts, an all-weather track, and nature trails.
There are some local restaurants and we heard that Diggs Restaurant was the place to go for steaks and a cold beer. Visit the San Saba website to learn more about things to see and do.

- head down to Llano (25 minutes south) and play in the Llano River, have some BBQ at the famous Coopers BBQ, or enjoy some of the shops, restaurants, or lively bars
