If you’re looking for a good spot to park the RV, enjoy some resort type amenities including a nine hole golf course and you don’t want to have to pay those exorbitant luxury Palm Springs RV site prices, then the Sands RV & Golf Resort is a perfect place to stay. It’s conveniently located a few miles from I-10 freeway, about 8 miles from downtown Palm Springs, and a couple miles from the heart of Desert Hot Springs.

It’s a gated park and has a security guard at the entrance to the RV sites. Sands RV & Golf Resort is a mixture of RV sites and park models a large portion of which are filled with some full timers, snowbirds during the winter months, and weekend vacationers. All of the roads are paved and the sites are laid out in 8 different horseshoes. You shouldn’t have any trouble maneuvering into your site and a park host will be there to assist you and make sure you don’t take out the hedges or utility box.

The park is very active with lots of events and all of the guests and park staff we met were friendly and outgoing. Management, which was new in 2007, does a superb job of keeping the park very clean and well maintained. The restrooms and showers were spotless.

Sands RV & Golf Resort is a convenient place to stay if you want to explore the Palm Springs area, head up to hike in Joshua Trees National Park, take a desert tour, or play some of the best golf courses in the United States.

Typical Day:

We stayed at Sands RV & Golf Resort on a trip from Dallas to San Jose and we picked the park because we had heard some good things about it and we liked the fact that it had a golf course and was convenient to the freeway.

Our main objective on this stay, which was just a few days, was to play golf. The Palm Springs area is home to over 125 golf courses, some of which are some of the best in the United States. After a warm up nine on the Sand’s course it was off to play some of the big boys. First up was playing both courses at Indian Wells Golf Resort (wow, these courses are very impressive and a must play) and then a fun round on Indian Springs Golf Course. All that golf pretty much ate up all of our time and we hated to leave this beautiful area.

Near By:

As mentioned earlier, the Palm Springs Area is home to excellent golf courses. During the winter they are a tad pricey and stay very busy. In the heat of the summer you can typically play the best courses for around $50. Look for some coupons. Here is a link to our review of Palm Springs Golf Courses that we have played.

On previous trips we have:

Enjoyed some hikes in nearby Joshua Trees State Park – a must visit if you like hiking and nature – and a hike in Palm Canyon
Taken a fun and informative desert tour
Rented bikes and rode around Palm Springs
Enjoyed some of the local events from polo to arts festivals
Really enjoyed the nightlife and wide variety of excellent restaurants
