Puerto del Sol is owned by Corpus Christi RV Resorts who also owns 3 other RV parks in Corpus – Greyhound, Colonial del Rey, and Padre Palms. Puerto del Sol is the closest to downtown Corpus and is right on the Corpus Christi Bay. The park is small with only 53 sites and is somewhat dated and lacking some of the amenities of the other Corpus Christi RV Resorts parks.
The terrain is flat, the roads are not paved, and the sites are close together. But we can overlook all of that and we thoroughly enjoy staying at Puerto del Sol because it is on the water and conveniently located to downtown and lots of other fun things to see and do.
We stayed here because of the very convenient access to day trips to Rockport, Fulton, and Port Aransas. Plus, we wanted easy access to downtown Corpus. We lvoe biking about a mile and a quarter to visit the Aquarium and the aircraft carrier USS Lexington; to play on the mile of sandy beaches and swim in the warm bay water; and to enjoy some fun restaurants and bars - Blue Marlin for music, food, and grill your own steak on Monday night and Pier 99 and Blackbirds for seafood, good music, and a fun bar on the beach.
A five minute trip across the bridge and you're in the heart of downtown Corpus. We spent a day biking along the waterfront, over to Water Street for lunch at the Executive Surf Club (they have great music on an outdoor patio), and then down to the museum area. That night it was only a four minute drive to Brewster Ice House to listen to Robert Earl Keen - they a have an outstanding outdoor music venue, good food, cold beer, and a kids playground.
