Profile
Sands RV & Golf Resort is home to a par 32 golf course that offers you a quick round of golf with majestic mountain views of two very different mountain ranges – the stately San Jacinto and rugged San Gorgonio Mountain range. This nine hole course has two sets of tee boxes with yardages of 1832 from the ladies tee box and 2127 from the tips.
Most of the holes are side by side with fairways that are a little narrow but have an ample playable rough. On a couple holes if you really spray the ball you’ll literally be out of the park or in another fairway with an opportunity to recover to save par. From the tee boxes you’ll be able to see the pin straight ahead and other than the two holes where a small pond can come into play, all you need to manage is your game, club selection, and the wind.
Some of the fairways have some mounding and a little bit of contour. The fairways were in good shape when we played and the rough is thin and playable. The fairways are lined by a scattering of trees and towering palms swaying in the breeze
The four par 3’s range from 120 to 168 and the five par fours are 280 to 360 yards. #7 is a fun 168 yard par 3 that from a slightly elevated tee box you’ll need to carry a small pond and thread the gap between two trees to stuff it on the green or take the safe approach along the left side which may make par a little more difficult – if the pin is on the far left, you’ll need to fly the tree to get close to the hole. On most of the holes the mountains form a beautiful backdrop for the green and each hole offers a view of the mountain ranges from a different perspective.
The cookie cutter greens are round and very small. Most are slightly elevated and turtle back making it hard to hit and hold. Some greens have slope and undulation that will toss your ball back into the fringe or a collection area. If you can’t get the ball to hold with a little backspin, try a bump and run. The greens at Sands RV & Golf Resort were in very good condition, ran true and smooth, and were a tad slow – maybe an 8 to 9. Most of the greens had minor slope and a couple had a little bit of undulation. Reading the breaks is pretty straightforward.
If you’re staying at the Resort, you can grab your bags and it’s a chip shot or a three wood from your RV site to the pro shop.

The pro shop staff is friendly and the pro shop has some of the basics you might need for a round. There is a putting green but no driving range and bring your own food if you think you’ll need it.
